Information Campaign for the Sirius Shelter
The idea was caused by a worsening of the situation with adoption, and even the return of pets due to the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic.
Sirius Director Alexandra Mezinova described the problem:
“In some countries, for example, the USA, during quarantine the requests to take pets from shelters increased significantly, and in Ukraine, on the contrary, the number of calls with requests to bring the animal to the shelter. People are afraid of being infected by a dog or cat, even though the information on the portal of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine says: there is no official evidence that pets can transmit coronavirus. The number of stray animals increased because the material condition of people worsened. Corporate and individual financial assistance to the shelter decreased because citizens and organizations go through difficult times. However, the shelter now needs help, and animals need to find placement”.
